How much to pay for wheel refurbishment?
I want to get my alloys refurbished and sprayed in a different colour. To avoid getting fleeced, I much should I be expecting to pay for the refurbishment of four 16 inch alloys? Thanks.
I was thinking about doing the same myself and i was told it would cost the same as buying a new set of alloys............How much does it cost to carry out an office refurbishment?
Hi, we are moving to a new office in London in March, and i have been tasked with managing the office refurbishment. I am speaking with fit out companies at the moment and getting initial quotes for the full office refurbishment. The issue is the quotes range soo much, it is getting confusing. Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to fit out a 2000 sq ft office in London?
It does depend on a number of factors including the style of office space, do you need open plan or cellular offices, the quality of fit out you are after, the quality of furniture etc but it is possible to give you a ball park guide based on London fit out rates.
A basic / economical office refurbishment usually ranges between £10-20 per square foot
A medium office refurbishment usually ranges between £20-40 per square foot
A high grade office refurbishment is usually more than £40 per square foot

I need a lot of work...wallpaper stripping, plastering and painting and kitchen and bathroom refurbishment. Not sure how much all this would cost. Any ideas please?
Julie, given the wallpaper work, plastering work and painting work involved, you might as well seek the free estimates of remodeling contractors who usually do it all for you as opposed to hiring an invidiual and separate contractor for each and every trade you speak of (i.e., wallpaper, plastering, painting, etc.).
It's important that you get a local estimate and not rely on guesses found here on Yah, as a lot of factors really bear on the cost of such a project, including the following: The cost of material and labor greatly varies by location. Definitely get estimates to start your exploration of the cost, as contractors would be delighted to give you free estimates anyway.
A local remodeling contractor can easily assist you in this project of yours. If you negotiate well with the contractor and he buys the building materials for you, you may try to have him pass the discounted cost of the materials to you, as usually contractors get discounts (called "contractor's discounts") when buying from suppliers because of the many purchases they make as required by their jobs.
So, yeah, fee estimates from local remodeling contractors are the key to your success in this home improvement project of yours. Here's a great link to a handyman site that offers free very resourceful information to assist you in determining the viability and cost of your project, and, ultimately, selecting a local remodeling contractor in an effort to get the best deal for you:

Have all the walls boarded with bare wood, I 've seen one for sale in Knockvicar, it looks like a stone built cottage and on the description it says under complete refurbishment, but my husband is suspicious about the wood lined walls, I wondered if this is usual on a cottage of this type
the bare wood looks like a lining of some description, as though their going to maybe plaster over it
Sounds like there restoring the lathe and plaster walls to there original condition. Maybe a requirement if the building is registered as historic. New buildings normally have drywall/plasterboard sheets fixed to a timber frame.
Lathe and plaster walls were constructed with timber uprights and horizontal timber lathe each with a small space between them, this space provided a key for the plaster when it was applied.Where can I find a company specialising in Alloy wheel refurbishment / powder coating in the London Area?

My insurance company has asked for the year the property was built. Although I know the era, I don't know the year and as the property was totally refurbished prior to my occupancy and there are no tell tale signs I am concerned that if I am incorrect and I need to make a future claim, I will not be paid out?

Thank you fengirl2.
Is it better to instruct the builders after the required funds have already been banked or to go on their promises of ability to pay at the completion of the jobs?
Do we need to open a separate account, in addition to our existing one, for the specific purpose of the refurbishment? We do have bank account for normal transactions (collection of service charges, regular expenses etc.)
i personally would not instruct any work to be done until funds have been banked. you dont want to end up owing the builders because the tennant didnt pay up.
no you dont need a seperate bank account, just bank the money in your account, declare it as income and then this will be offset when you pay it out to the builder as you can treat this as an expense. just make sure you get all the invoices from the builders.
