My question is how many hours can a 17 year old fulltime student work ?. I have a claim in for benefits such as council tax and housing benefit as well.
The boy wants to get a part time job but we are wondering if there is a limit or max hours that can be worked each week.
Has anyone else come in to this situation before and may be give us some pointers about it or who do we need to speak to about it?.
If my brain servs me correctly as your lad is 17 I think he can work what ever hours he wants to but I understand you will have to inform the people who pay anykind of benefits so as you are not over paid and do not break the law.
I would how ever certainly go and speak to those people who deal with the benefits as they change the regulations so much I could be telling you wrong.
I am only going on what someone had told me but that was sometime ago so it may have all changed now unless anyone else on here could say different if they are in the same situation.
From what I have heard as well I think Fred is about right with the information given.
I also will say do go and check it out with the people whom pay the benefits as I am sure they will have changed some regulation or a whole string of them.
You don't want to get it wrong and find you have to pay them a whole load of money back and have them watching you like a hawk.
I think Jamie has hit the nail on the head there. These benefit rules and laws are often changing as friend was telling me recantly so it would be an extremely good idea to go and check this out with the benefit people whom pay them then they should be on the right side of the law.
I did see here recantly either on the tv or radio that they are going to really tighten up on people making claims for benefit so best get it right first time then.
It costs nothing to ask these people and I am sure they would sooner you came and asked them before doing what ever from what everyone else says.
