I should like to take this moment to remind all people whom are planning a holiday not just Home Owners or Tenants but Park Home Owners as well in fact everyone who has one form of home or another.
Some friends of mine recantly went on holiday had a good time came back to a safe secure home all in one peace.
The sad bit was the neighbors next door but one also went away and they had locked the place up as you do but they made the classic mistake of leaving curtains shut in the day time, the post was building up behind the door, did not turn any lights on or put them on a timer.
Well the worst did happen whilest away. Mr Burgular and partners visited there home and took all sorts of stuff and were away. I don't know if they have been caught yet but Please Do remember to try the following.
Do such as put lights on timers, get someone who you trust to come in and water plants, park there car in your driveway, put the television on, draw the curtains at night but do these things at different times so as by the time anyone can try and work a pattern out they have got fed up and moved on some where else.
In fact I did see on this site some where there was a peace saying something about Home Security. i think it was from one of the links off the home page as they call it.
Even if you give someone £20.00 as a good will gesture then at least you stand less chance of getting burguled and know that someone you trust is checking regular.
I trust no one has had the miss fortune of these horrible people gaining entry while you are away and if anyone else has any other tips on this subject then lets here them on this thread as I am sure someone will have thought of some really clever idea that most of us may not have thought of yet.

I have just found the page on Home Security on here.
The link is http://www.propertyanswers4u.com/tenant/taking-your-home-security-seriously
Hope this may be of help to someone.

Thanks for the advice Rodney! There can be nothing more depressing than returning home from holiday only to find that some scum of the earth has invaded your private space and stolen possessions that have taken you years to work for. Perhaps we should start leaving our homes booby-trapped in our absence! Like on that movie "Home Alone"
Forget booby traps; the best way to keep unwanted villains off of your property is to keep a dog who's bite is worse that its bark! Unfortunately, burglars will always find a way around our complex security systems - sometimes traditional is the best way to go and I guarantee you they would think twice before entering a property guarded by one of our four-legged friends!
Ha ha! And for those who simply don't have the space for a big dog, you can always put up one of those signs saying 'beware of dog' outside your gate. Choose one with a particularly big breed of dog depicted on the sign! Seriously, this really works! If you're REALLY creative you could even mount sensors around your property that mimic a huge dog barking every time they're tripped. That's what James Bond would do...
Having a neighbourhood watch is also a great way to deter burglars. We have recently put together a neighborhood watch in my area. A group of us decided that we’d had enough so we took things into our own hands! Since we started patrolling, the amount of petty theft and burglaries has decreased greatly.
That's a good idea, but it always irks me that us tax-payers have to pull ourselves from our beds to patrol the neighbourhood, when we work so hard during the day as it is! What are taxes for if the local government can't spare patrol cars for the suburbs? Anyway, just having a rant because only last night the guy next door got broken into... funny thing is he has a dog, only it's so old and toothless it couldn't do anything about it even if it wanted to!
