Holiday Let Prices

sellotape100m's picture

I have just found an offer on the net for holiday lets.

It said Easter in Ireland from £305.00 for seven nights and four people. Then I saw Easter in the UK from £335.00 three nights and for four people.

Now where is the logic in that. This country is getting rather costly. So you travel further away and it is cheaper.

I bet there is some really nice places in Ireland to stay at.

Has anyone else been having a look at holiday let prices. It sounds like there is a few quid to be made in them. No wonder so many people have them to rent out.

That is just typical of the Uk to be more costly.

At one time people used to have a holiday at the seaside in the Uk and it was very cost affective to do so but it has got rather costly and now what with low cost air fares to other destinations it is cheaper to go for two weeks to another country and most likely be warmer.

I am sure there are nice places to visit around the Uk. May be they need to look at there pricing on a wider scale.

That is just like the Uk everything has to be more costly. No wonder people go abroad for there holidays they are getting better value for there money.

The days have gone when you could holiday in the UK at a low price.

Your joking. Hell that is a difference in pricing and I bet it is better there as well.

Um when I have a few more pennys I will be looking further a field unless this country can come up with something better.

I am still amazed when I read the above that it is lower priced to go further a field for a break than it is to stay in the Uk for a break.

Well that is just shocking. When I can afford one of these holiday homes to rent I will be checking them all out to see which is the best price and what you get for your money. They are not robbing me blind for sure.

That is just so british, always over pricing. No wonder people go abroad. I mean to say that you can get a return ticket to Poland for something like £50

Well I think I will stay away from them in the Uk myself.

  • Where can two 16 year olds go on holiday?

Me and my boyfriend are both 16 and are wondering where about's can we go for a weekend away in England? I've heard Newquay accept 16 year old's but I don't know where to look! Could anyone possibly let me know of a hotel name and the prices and stuff? :-) Would be much appreciated!
You're legal to travel in the UK and stay in hotels at 16. You'd want to go somewhere with cheap activities, so maybe Brighton? Southend? Wales? Lake District? Bath? Bristol? London?
  • Does anyone know good websites to book holidays on?

I have looked on expedia and travel agents websites but nothing wows me. Im looking to book a holiday to Orlando but the prices are all similar so I was hoping to find a website that is safe and have good prices. Please let me know if you know of any THANKS!
Me and my family have booked a few times with ocean florida. www.ocean-florida.co.uk they have some reasonably priced family deals. Also check out flights and hotel seperate try sky scanner or flight centre for flights and trip advisor or travel republic for your hotel/villa we have saved quite alot of money doing it this way. Also if ur booking it as a package and get a price from 1 company if you ring another company they will usually try to beat the price do this a few times with a few different companies and you will be suprised how much you can save.
  • Free Holiday - Charges?

We went looking today for a friends stag party in magaluf, We came across a hotel and went onto look for the prices at which point the time of year showed as 0.00 we moved to the next screen thinking it would update but still nothing then to the final commit screen which then gave me a booking reference and confirmation of the days and rooms that we had booked. Obviously this is an error of the hotels, Where do we stand though in such things as we're all part of the EU and aparently our trading standards cover us with dealing with other EU countries also. Should we take it that we have been seriously lucky and demand for the quoted holiday at the price advertised and confirmed in the reservation or should we just meet the hotel half way with a discount? Anyone else had this weird scenario, What can or can't we do from a legal standpoint? - Is there really full cover from a trading standards point of view within the EU... Let me know what you think.

    Many Thanks
    Andy
Although both answers have good reasoning I still have the question as to whether the booking reference which acts as a contract with the zero balance would stand up when discussing this with the hotelier.

Obviously within a shop something proced correctly can be refused to be sold to a customer at the register/till, However we have gone through checkout with this product and a reference confirmation assigned which could be viewed as acceptance of the transaction that has taken place for a product or service.

Let me know what you think, should i give them a hard time for there foul up, Or should we meet them half way with a discount of sorts?

    Many Thanks
    Andy
It might have been a good idea to contact the hotel about it's prices, or lack of, before actually making the booking as there was an obvious problem from the beginning of your search.

I suggest you email the hotel immediately, explain the situation, as ask what exactly is the full cost. If it's too expensive for you, then just cancel the booking and find another hotel.

This may not even be the hotel's fault. Many hotels use a third party secure booking site, and the hotel may not even be aware that there is a problem. However, you saw the problem straight away and took advantage of it, so the onus is on you to either pay the full price requested by the hotel or cancel the booking.
  • Ear piercing - how do I convince my parents to let me get my ear pierced?

Ok, I'm a 15 year old white male, I would like to get my left ear pierced and have a diamond stud in it but i have one problem my parents (both of them) think that boys with pierced ears are stupid - I don't think this. How can I convince them to let me get my ear pierced. Also its nearing the end of the summer holidays so it wouldn't have good healing time with school (PE) and all, ideas please. Could I also have some price ideas.
    Thanks
And yes piercings are allowed in my school
Also my parents are in their late 40s
    your parents are right.
  • I need to cancel my holiday?

I paid the full price to go on holiday late next year for me and my boyfriend, we booked online but we have fallen out big time and obviously won't be going now as I think we may be breaking up, how much of my money will I get back and is it possible to cancel? I booked with Thomas Cook, I don't know if they'll let me cancel in the actual shop or not because I booked online.
Holidays booked for late next year? Plenty of time to get a new boyfriend to go with..

  • Malia Group Holiday - Best Travel Agent???

About 9-12 of young gorgeous blokes looking to go to Malia next July for 2 weeks, for a bit of sun, surf and sambucas. Looking to party it up, not looking for cheap prices but after a good holiday.

What is the best travel agent to go to for group bookings, good offers, best prices etc? All inclusive would be considered if the prices are good, and location is near the beach etc.

Any info please let me know. Cheers.
Companies like Thomson and First Choice will be far more expensive than going to smaller independent companies. Try emailing these guys - sales@keytrips.com. I know they offer very good group rates and reliable service
  • OK let me put this 'hypothetical' situation to you and tell me what you would do?

Lets say you want to rent a place. Lets say the price of the place is at a premium for its size and location, but is fully furnished and very good quality nonetheless.

So you put in an offer for the place, its accepted. Yay you move in 3 weeks from now. Now you have some questions for the landlord which you forward to the estate agents a day later, but get a response that some of the questions you have asked will have to wait as the landlord has gone on holidays for 2 weeks (bearing in mind this is 1 day after you made the offer and it being accepted).

So 2 weeks pass by, and now its less than a week till move in date. During this time the estate agents ring you up and ask to increase the minimum rental period by a month as the date falls during the christmas period and the landlord would have problems if we decided to move out then. You agree to this in order not to be difficult.

Finally the landlord gets back from his holiday and is able to answer your question, which is 'Can the landlord remove some of the smaller items from the place, cutlery, pictures etc' as there is not much storage space at the place.

The landlord replies back saying No.

You then reply back saying 'Well would the landlord consider a reduction of £20 a month in rent which would cover half the cost of hiring extra storage for your items as not eveything would fit into the flat?'

Bearing in mind at this point, there is 3 days till move in date.

    The landlord says No.

My questions (yeah I got there in the end) are:

"Is the request to remove some of the items in the place to free up some space, a reasonable one?"

"Should the request have been made at the very start before an offer was even made for the place?"

"Would you just give in and accept it because its a relatively minor matter?"

    Finally.

"would you scupper the whole deal even though its just £20 on principle that you felt you showed flexibility and also asked the original question 3 weeks prior but because the landlord decided to take a holiday it forced what was a minor issue into a major one because the timeframe became very squeezed? and you get the impression he knows he has you over a barrel because of the timeframe so thinks you'll back down and give in?"
Alan R - Fair enough. By the same token, when the estate agents decided to change their minimum terms in their favour should I have blanket refused and not shown any flexibility. And when I did, should the landlord have reciprocated?
You should have got the answers before making an offer .
