Free Holiday Let

bordercollie's picture

I have just had the mnost excellent holiday let for a week for free.

A friend I have known for years and years having helped each other over the years has only got a week free where no one has book his most excellent holiday let and yes has let me have it for a whole week for free as a thank you for my help on various things past and present.

I tell you what though if all holiday lets are like this one then I will be looking in to renting one for a holiday or short break the next time I have one.

I never really thought about renting some place out before until I stayed here at this one. I was just blown away.

Smile You are certainly luck to have a friend like that.

Wish I knew someone like that but the only thing is I would not want to come back. May be one should look in to renting one of these holiday lets for a week then at least you can drive to it and you have your car to hand should you wish to go further or if not just stay locally.

But yeah good on you mate I think you may have convinced me to seriously look in to the holiday let bit.

I did not think friends like that existed anymore. I guess you will want to look after that friend as hey has done you.

Good on you mate.

A free holiday let hey. May be if I had one of those I could ignore paying the bills for a while, well at least I would get some peace and they would not know where to look.

Yes well I guess some of us can just dream hey.

Just incase anyone has not noticed. It is December and it is rather cold where I am. Think we should all find a holiday let in another country where it is warmer. To cold in the UK at the minute.

Think I could do with a holiday right now come to think iof it.

  • What is a good website hosting service if you have a holiday property to let (preferably free)?

We have a property in Bulgaria and i want to build a free or cheap website to promote it. Are there any site hosting services which would have predesigned templates useful for property letting, including booking forms, etc.? Would prefer user recommendations rather than commercial approaches. Thanks!

I found Yahoo site builder easy to use for building my site.
You can download the program to design your site for free. but you have to pay once you have put it on line. mine costs £6.75 a month
  • Should a Mother, allow their child to have free time in the Easter holiday?

GCSE's are coming up. Should they let them go out and have a break a few times? Or isolate them, and make them do around 5 hours a day - and take their games console away. What are your opinions? Thanks in advance.
    everything in moderation.
  • Travel with boyfriend or let him go alone?

Just to explain - I've been with my man for 18 months and togther we run a small Hotel. In the winter he likes to travel and this year he is willing to pay most of the costs for me to go with him (prob South Africa & Sri Lanka). However, I've always prided myself on not being a clingy type and think he might enjoy a break on his own (he likes hanging out with his friends and needs some time off to relax, I don't want him to feel like he's dragging me around and putting up with me and my inevitable womanly crises!). On the other hand I know he'd like to show off about the places he knows and I would love to see them. Plus I've agreed the family could stay at New Year, duh!

Should I go and make the most of a free holiday or let him go enjoy himself, appreciate the peace here, see my family for New Year instead and hope he misses me?! One minute I want to go, the other I want to stay and I know if I ask him he'll only say what he thinks I want to hear. HELP!
Hmmm tough call, I totally understand what you mean. You won't get a straight answer if you just asked him what he wants.

I think the best thing for couples is for each half to decide what they want and state it clearly, but without emotional 'loading', to the other person. Then if the wants are different you can negotiate.... for example you could only go for one week of the trip or something.

Reading between the lines on what you said though... if he is willing to pay and he's looking forward to showing you stuff.... he probably really wants you to come. I travel alot and it is a much more enjoyable experience with someone. Maybe just make a plan with him in advance about how is the best way for him to help you with any crises (I always say to my boyfriend that as long as he feeds me regularly and I sit and read my book for a couple of hours by the pool I can cope with anything.) Likewise, you can always spend a day apart when you are on holiday... He can go SCUBA diving while you shop or whatever it is you like to do.

I hope you go on the trip and have a fabulous time!
  • Anyone heard of 2minutesurvey.com? Free holiday to Turkey?

If anyone knows more on this or has paid the £20 admin fee please let me know.
    Preferably someone from the UK.
Yeah there is a phone number but obviously they're just gonna reiterate what is said on the website.
Not that company, but it is a common scam to actually offer you the holiday, but YOU MUST travel when they say - they always choose ridiculous flight times and days so people are unable to travel, and also for 2 people it will be different flights on different days. That way they keep legal by offering you the holiday, but no one is able to fulfil their booking conditions
  • Free holiday scam? I was shopping in Bluewater and a lady had asked me if I was interested in a free holiday ?

All they wanted in return was for me to go to the location (Cyprus/Paphos), and do a review of the 5star hotel. I filled in the forms and I've received my welcome pack. It was sent from Cyprus. They are Leptos VIP and their website is www.leptosvip.com and there's an international phone number. The letters say they are part of Leptos Calypso Hotels Public Ltd. They are asking for €42 (£36) per night for 7 nights as a Nominal service fee. The word 'free' has gone out the window. Ok so for 7 nights, that's £252 or £126 each person for the week. They've totally got my sirname wrong on the offer letter so I'm thinking it may be a scam where after they take my money they say that I have to pay full price as the name is different. They've spelt London wrong, and got my post code totally mixed up. It's a wonder it got here! It's dated 21 Nov and arrived today and according to the letter, I have to buy my €42 vouchers by 15th December. Not a lot of time. My instingt is telling me it's a scam and anything too good to be true, generally is. Anyway, I've looked at their site, even typing in the site address and 'scam' after it and nothing came up. Even their correspondance address is a P.O Box! I found out the domain to have been registered in August 2008! Not good. If anyone knows anything then please let me know or direct me to some info sites on this if you find anything. Thanks
anything that asks for money up front is always always a scam
remember if it looks too good to be true it is
even if it is not a scam more than likely to be timeshare keep your money in your purse please
  • Free Holiday - Charges?

We went looking today for a friends stag party in magaluf, We came across a hotel and went onto look for the prices at which point the time of year showed as 0.00 we moved to the next screen thinking it would update but still nothing then to the final commit screen which then gave me a booking reference and confirmation of the days and rooms that we had booked. Obviously this is an error of the hotels, Where do we stand though in such things as we're all part of the EU and aparently our trading standards cover us with dealing with other EU countries also. Should we take it that we have been seriously lucky and demand for the quoted holiday at the price advertised and confirmed in the reservation or should we just meet the hotel half way with a discount? Anyone else had this weird scenario, What can or can't we do from a legal standpoint? - Is there really full cover from a trading standards point of view within the EU... Let me know what you think.

    Many Thanks
    Andy
Although both answers have good reasoning I still have the question as to whether the booking reference which acts as a contract with the zero balance would stand up when discussing this with the hotelier.

Obviously within a shop something proced correctly can be refused to be sold to a customer at the register/till, However we have gone through checkout with this product and a reference confirmation assigned which could be viewed as acceptance of the transaction that has taken place for a product or service.

Let me know what you think, should i give them a hard time for there foul up, Or should we meet them half way with a discount of sorts?

    Many Thanks
    Andy
It might have been a good idea to contact the hotel about it's prices, or lack of, before actually making the booking as there was an obvious problem from the beginning of your search.

I suggest you email the hotel immediately, explain the situation, as ask what exactly is the full cost. If it's too expensive for you, then just cancel the booking and find another hotel.

This may not even be the hotel's fault. Many hotels use a third party secure booking site, and the hotel may not even be aware that there is a problem. However, you saw the problem straight away and took advantage of it, so the onus is on you to either pay the full price requested by the hotel or cancel the booking.
  • Is there a website that i can go on which will let me design a bedroom for free in 3D?

I am getting my bedroom redone i get it done every two years and last time i new what i wanted but this time i'm not to sure so i just want to use a 3D bedroom design thing my friend told me about her but i cant contact her because she is on holiday and didn't take her phone help please it needs to be for free. thankyou x x x
Yes, IKEA do it. Go to the website here - http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/rooms_ideas/splashplanners.html - and download the bedroom planning software. I used it a year ago and found it pretty decent and helpful. You will be able to view a plan, or a 3D view from any angle, with or without the doors.

Your only problem is that the preloaded furniture is IKEA's own, so if you're not intending using IKEA to buy your furniture, you will only get an approximation of what you will end up with, but just select IKEA bedroom furniture of the same size as that which you intend buying.
  • Will I get charged the congestion charge for today?

The signs dont specify if its free bank holidays please let me know!
weekends and bank holidays are free of the charge
  • How can I politely refuse going on holiday with a work colleague?

I only like keeping in touch with this lady via email (we used to work together), but she has asked me to accompany her on a holiday, but from previous bad experiences with other friends in the past I've been on holiday with, I don't want to go with her. I want to politely let her down, but don't know how to email it. She says she can't get anyone to go away with. It's a free holiday to be taken any month, so I can't make an excuse like I'm booked elsewhere or have hospital appointments for example. How can I be polite in this? She has a too strong a personality for me.
I feel going on holiday with someone I've only been to the theatre with twice a little too personal for me.
She's using you. Like you say "She says she can't get anyone to go away with". You don't need to explain - just say, "thank you for inviting me, but I'll take a rain check on that".
