How do I stop house next door being rented to students?
The house next door has been purchased and is now being altered from a three bed family home into a 6 bedroom student house. I have spoken to the planners and they dont need any form of planning and I have called the local council to object as it is a residential area they came round and spoke to all the residents and said nothing we can do . We lived next door to students for 4 years until we had to move , the music , the swearing the parking , the drugs , the door bell at 3am friends looking for the student house , the rubbish , the parties every night , even set fire to there garden , the general disregard for anyone else any suggestions what can we do or do we have to move again.
I do not think all students are the same but having lived next door to students for 4 years most were rich kids who just upset everyone and got drunk.
theres not much you can do, you'll probably be advised to keep a diary of events for the owners or local council so that if it does turn out like your last situation you may have a leg to stand on. Not all students are the same, you might be lucky this time.Im an international student -im soon to be 18 but my parents dont let me do anything at all and favour my bro?

tl;drStudent with a golden retriever?
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a golden retriever puppy at the beginning of December, this is when I finish my second year of University, I don't start back until mid January so I thought this would be a good time for my puppy to spend time with me, begin basic training and get used to its new home. I'm only in university for three hours a day and when I finish university I will be working for my parents graphic design company, they bring there 11 year old golden to work and said that it is no problem for me to bring mine.
I was just wondering if I could have some advice on whether you think this is a good idea, I'm not one to go out partying every night and I live next to a park so I can easily walk the dog, when it's old enough, twice a day. I was just wondering if you think that three hours a day, for 4 days a week is too much to leave a dog or puppy alone for, if you think it's too much time then I wouldn't purchase a puppy.
Thankyou in advance for any advice.

3 hours is ok, I thought you were gonna say a lot worse haha. But no I have dogs at home and sometimes they get left for 3 hours, as long as you walk the dog before and after you get back home. And make sure the dog has enough water.how do i stick up for myself?
i'm always being bullied and mistreated. Everyone is always walking all over me it all started in 7th grade when i was being beat up almost everyday because i was small, snitch, not a real catholic school student, not a real christian, a goody-good, an AMERICAN. ( i live in canada) and in 8th grade i was tortured and abuse even more, when i went to high school, i made more enemies andi drop out. since then i let people walk all over me. giving me death stares, dirty looks., i always feel insecure walking out of my house and i never had the courage to say "hey what are you looking"! one time i was out jogging/ running and a group of guys from my old high school saw me and started laughing at me calling me names like "fag'', "pussy" and "bitch"...once in 2008 i was in high school and i was talking to my friend and he said he said after high school he was going to "work" and i teased him saying if i see him in the streets i will give him some money and all of a sudden he cursed me out in front of everyone and Challenger to a fight...little did i knew he was a schizophrenic! but everyone felt sorry for him all because he was a schizophrenic with a short temper and im the bad guy...once my dad broke his knee from working and he return to the hospitalised his friend gave him a ride home and park his car in the guys spot..all of a sudden this guy came knocking on our door and he screamed and cursed us out we had to get police in involved all the neighbours gossip and everyone though my dad was the bad guy because he's was screaming and the guy was in his 80's still it ddidn'tgive the man the right to curse my dad and my mom and humiliated i'm tired of this....i have been through enough and im BOXER! i am well train have great hands...i'm 5'4 147 pounds and i knock out a guy who was 5'7 172 pound guy in sparring..my first amateur fight was with a guy who was 0-2 and i didn't train and i still went three rounds with him and everyone thought i won! i made a few guys bleed in sparring. i don't mean to brad but a guy like me shouldn't be scared to fight I'M TIRED OF THIS i hate being laugh at! what do i do! some one give me some tips
You jack somebody up in front of a group of people, the word will spread that you are no one to be messed with. Prepare to suffer the legal consequences for this strategy. Will the 6 points added straight away or i will still having my driving license clean till it is solved? What?
Hi guys I am a student and i was coming back from the library on the 31 January by 5 AM being pull over by the Police on my way home. The situation is that i confused the expiry dates of my car insurance with the 31 of January that was the date when it was issued last year.I was quite sure and convinced that my insurance was to expire on the 31 that was the reason why even a few minutes before i left the library deciding not to buy it because i wanted to give them a ring to clarify a few things from the new policy.
I plead to the officer, but they refused to understand and accept that it was a genuine misunderstanding and that as it was obviously it had ran out 5 hour ago and giving me 2 options either pay a penalty fee of 200 pounds living the car parked in front of my house or them to take the car and paying a fine of 150 and go to court having 6 points added on my drive licence in both cases.
At beginning i decided to go to court as i said i assume my mistake but believe that explaining the situation as it happened in a court to a Human been i may somehow be listened and sorted this in a different way.Im not saying not to be charged or fined but is not fair in my point of view for a Citizen that had everything ok and never had any problem at all.
By now i took the option of pay the fine and have the 6 points but now im considering contact a solicitor expose the situation and take the case to Court.
So please could someone give me some advice?
Will the 6 points added straight away or i will still having my driving license clean till it is solved?
What is gonna happened with my next insurance?Do i have to tell them straight or should i wait for the result of all of this?
Thanks
DVLA will already know about the points and will have awarded them any time now expect to be asked to send your licence back to dvla for the points to be physically put on as for seeking legal advice go ahead but remember you were caught with no insurance albeit only just but ignorance is no defence as for telling insurers about points yes you do you do not want to give them any opportunities to revoke any insurance you eventually getAre Americans more English then the English?
When Americans was being 'unfairly' taxed by the King. they had a war. the Americans at first did not want to become independent. Washing made a quote of being of the same blood. anyway my point is. how come the English are being unfairly taxed to the rest of the UK. and their is noo revoulouary war? let me show u how unfair it is?
Finance
In the end, it always comes down to money. The Byzantine workings of the Barnett formula, which adjusts spending for different parts of the country, are an increasingly sore point for the 51 million people in England. In 2009/10, £8,559 was spent per head in England, compared with £10,083 in Scotland. Wales received £9,587 and Northern Ireland £10,662.
Free hospital car-parking
In England, trusts make around £100m a year from parking fees, and ministers maintain that this brings in extra money to cover patient care. But in Scotland, no charge
Social care
Top of the political agenda in England and one of the most contentious issues: the Dilnot commission report on how to pay for looking after an ageing population is published tomorrow. The Independent on Sunday has learned that Conservative and Liberal Democrat ministers are to hold talks with Labour this summer to thrash out a cross-party deal ahead of a White Paper due to be published in the autumn. John Healey, Labour's health spokesman, has said: "As politicians, we can and must do better by our older people by solving this problem together. We're serious, if David Cameron shows he's serious, and that means setting a bold timetable for reform."
The economist Andrew Dilnot will propose that no one will be charged more than £35,000 for care, allowing insurance companies to offer cover against the fees. It should prevent people having to sell their homes to pay for care. But he has ruled out recommending that the state should pay for all personal care, as happens in Scotland, where pensioners receive £150 per week for personal care and almost £70 per week for nursing care. It can be claimed even if living in a care home. The policy costs £377m a year.
Health
In England, patients pay £17 for a check-up with the dentist. In Scotland? No charge. In England, an eye test typically costs around £20. In Scotland? No charge. And while prescriptions in England have gradually crept up to £7.40 an item, in Scotland they have been going in the opposite direction – until a decision in April that there would be, you guessed it, no charge. The policy costs the taxpayer £57m. But English patients, even those living close to the border, will qualify for free prescriptions in Scotland only if they are registered with a Scottish GP.
Students
It isn't just Scottish undergraduates who have more money. The education maintenance allowance (EMA), worth up to £30 a week, was once available to every 16- to 19-year-old in the UK, as long as they were students or undertaking unpaid work-based learning. Since January, English teenagers have had to...The Americans weren't being unfairly taxed. The idea was that they paid some taxes to cover their defence bills. Instead of British taxpayers having to fork out for it.
The Boston 'tea party' racketeers were protesting that the removal of a customs duty made their smuggling operations unprofitable.
America is a fine country, but perhaps some sort of shame and remorse over their criminal origins might be in order. Australians don't have the same problem of denial, they understand that their ancestors were moral and social degenerates and they seem to genuinely want to atone for it, by Voluntary Service Overseas, pulling pints in British pubs.Pop Culture orientated writing. Should I continue? Please help!?

I Hate Rock 'n' Roll - The Jesus & Mary Chain.
I'm not going to tell you my name. I'm not a writer. I'm not anything really. I'm a student. I'm eighteen years old. I live with my parents. I live near Glasgow. And this is my story. So far.
The Way I Walk - The Cramps.
My top song for walking down the street when something good happens. This "something good" usually involves a girl in one way or another. This "something good" usually ends up being "something bad".
Lets start off at the beginning. Well not the beginning. But a beginning. Sixth year of high school, 16 years old. I was one of the youngest in my year, having a '91 birthday as opposed to a '90 birthday. My friends were all 17, and this story starts the day after one of those friends had had sex.
My friends - Nick and Duncan. Nick had been having sex for a year previously, but that was okay, because the two of us had not. Duncan had a girlfriend, he had done for around four months, he had just had sex. The particular moment we found out was a friday afternoon. We were walking to Nick's due to a free afternoon of school. After he told us, there was suddenly a 2v1 situation. Not peer pressure, more annoyingly cocky jokes. Nothing serious. But I had an ego, I have an ego and I wasn't going to let them, or Richard Branson and his ridiculous name for a company, have one over on me. Sounds stupid? Most boys that age know the feeling.
Skip a day later. Saturday Night.
At a party in my local town, Barrhead. No one too familiar is here. A party involving a different school, but i'm there, because I know the host.
Skip a few hours later.
Drunk. Parties pretty much dead, most people have gone home, rest have passed out. All thats left is myself and a random girl I didnt know till now. She's currently unbuttoning my jeans.
This is how I "became a man".
I got drunk, and hooked up with a random. Problems arose at first - well arose may not be the best word to use. But eventually it happened. Over-rated, but good for the ego nonetheless.
Walk On The Wild Side - Lou Reed.
Walking home, same clothes on. Already cast away the used rubber, another ego boost. Already text every guy I know. That girl would haunt me for... well till now, but that'll develop later.
Skip a few weeks later.
Looking For A Kiss - New York Dolls.
Girlfriend. Not my first. Not my last. But my first since i'd discovered sex, and therefore, meaningful relationships. Her name is Emily. She is blonde. I like blondes. She is small. I like small. I hope they like small too. I met Emily at a gig of mine. I'm in a band. This was our first gig. It was shit. Emily...Great style, dude, but where's it gong? What's it about - other than a list of your sexual experiences, which aren't all that interesting to those of us who are past that stage. You want to start at an interesting point in the story and make a scene out of it. Tell us about the party - who was there and doing what. Tell us so'd we'll feel we were there. You have five senses: tell us what each of them told you. You're also going to need a Big Problem arising out of that party, one that will take your hero the whole book to resolve. He gets a girl pregnant, he starts taking drugs, he sh*gs someone's mother. Just get us involved. How do I deal with these kids?
When I moved out here, I needed to find an apartment quickly. I called in response to a classified ad, and was told that the property being advertised had actually just sold out of one-bedroom apartments, but that the same company managed another complex in town which was -- to quote them -- mostly young professionals with very few students (I live in a college town). While that's turned out to not be true, things have been mostly peaceful over the past year. Mostly.
A couple weeks ago I was out on my porch having a cigarette, and I noticed a couple guys standing on the basketball court, laughing and doing something to the backboard of one of the nets. I walked up to them, saw that what they were doing was taping torn-out pages from a pornographic magazine onto the backboard, and asked if they planned to take that down. They laughed and tore the pages down, then threw them into the bed of a pickup truck in the parking lot. I'm willing to put up with quite a lot from neighbors, but not outright vandalism of the place where I live, so I walked around for a while and saw them sticking similar materials onto windshields of cars in the parking lot. Every time I took out my phone to try to get a picture, they made themselves scarce.
The same night, porn magically appeared on my door. Since that night, every weekend has, without fail, involved some juvenile crap being stuck to the door of my apartment.
Tonight I came home and was sitting on my couch when, about 2AM, I heard laughter outside my door. I got up and went over, and found this -- a literal pile of feces -- on my stoop.
I put on my jacket and stepped outside, and there was a group of kids not twenty feet away. As I approached, one of them said, "oh, shit, it's that guy". I walked up, pulled out my phone, and one guy in the group immediately started ducking behind other people. I got a look at him and recognized him as one of the kids who'd been taping up the porn.
I approached him and he said, "oh hey, you're that dude who followed us around that night." I asked him if he knew anything about the pile of excrement sitting by my door, and he denied any involvement. I asked if he'd seen anyone walking away from my door, and he said no.
I said this was a heck of a coincidence, and that if I saw him near my apartment again I'd call the police. He followed me part of the way back to my door, proclaiming his innocence, but gave up eventually. Meanwhile, once of his friends kept yelling that he was "a fucking political science major and you better not fuck with us".
I'm already planning to talk to the management office of my apartment complex tomorrow -- because I have at least a partial photo of him and he protested that he lives here and was "just hanging out with his friends" -- but I'm wondering if anyone's got constructive suggestions for how to deal with this situation. I don't have anything resembling hard evidence that they've been leaving the stuff outside my apartment, and the one...call the police and claim someone is stalking you. because they are.
and porn is illegal so claim they are looking for sexual favors from you that you refused. and all you really needed was a photo of the liscense plate and a good photo of the truck. this type of action will only become worse. you should have been calling the police from the first act.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I was once a student and having seen a few of these on the odd website they look rather good.
I think they would make great homes for students studying away. May be like renting they would have to put up a bond / deposit for any damage caused should it happen. Not all are out to damage a place.
May be there could be a warden whom would do regular checks to see that all is ok and that the whole area in general was kept tidy plus it would be a good security thing as well for the residents.

I think some of these uni's and the government could chip in. They could have it like a campus and so on. May be someone from the government might read this and get the idea in motion.
