Park Homes As Holiday Homes

mountainbiker_uk's picture

Having a read a recant document I was amazed.

Quite a few holiday home establishments have not only got various static caravans on site but they are buying some of the more up market park homes.

I saw some pictures that someone had showed me and wow if you have never seen the inside of the more delux park home they look pretty amazing.

I was also told that these more delux models make great holiday homes and some are better inside that a lot of everyday homes so I guess you can see why so many people rent them out for there long or short holiday.

That sounds like a really good idea someone has come up with and not just using them as cheap homes to live in when you retire.

I have also had a look on some park home website and hell they are amazing and the price some of the more delux ones go for is just crazy.

I guess if you have a selction of them about the place to rent out as holiday homes you are going to have a nicer palce to rent out in the holiday season and make shed loads of wonga.

I personally will be sticking with my bricks and mortar just in case Mr Wolf comes at my door then I know he wont get in so easily.

I can see how some of the more resonably priced park homes make good holiday home lets.

So you get a reasonably priced holiday in an half decant place to stay in. That would have to beat one of those static caravans for which I am told are either to hot or to cold in winter.

While they are at it they could build a few more of these for all this housing they say we are short of.

I'm still sticking with my bricks and morta but yes I still agree it is a good idea in using them as holiday homes and of course a cheap form of housing as I am told they go up in what a couple of hours or so.

  • Why cant holiday caravans be used for homes?

Ive an idea. There are thousands of holiday homes/static caravans/lodges etc etc all over britain and a few residential sites for people usually over the age of 50. Why cant some of these sites be allowed to open for 12 months of the year, and to let people in need of affordable housing use these instead? Im not meaning for DSS wasters to fill these places and turn them into council estates, im meaning for them to be sold to be used as permanent homes. America seems to manage it with the trailer parks, and you only have to look on Rightmove to see the prices are affordable. Any ideas anyone?
Sites dont have all year round licenses, so you cant live in them permanently even if you do own the property. What I want to know is why cant the rules be changed. I know there would be issues regarding council tax and rubbish collections etc, but technically you could have 100 mobile homes, ALL being lived in for 10 months of the year by everyone, so to extend it to 12 months shouldnt be a problem. It would solve housing shortages in tourist areas where locals cant afford the houses
The more ironic thing is you are allowed to be in the caravan during the day over the closed season but not the evenings!
Its a joke really and you have a good point!
I'm lucky to have a good landlord who lets us stay all year round but we have to keep very discreet about it!
  • What holiday parks in Devon is nearest to Devon's night life?

Me & my 8 friends are going on a girls holiday to Devon we want stay in either a holiday park or a holiday home but we don't know which part of Devon to stay in which has the best night life as we want to go out into town on the night time. Does anyone on here know the best night life spots/areas in Devon and where the closest accommodation is situated!

-If you think there is a better holiday resorts i.e Cornwall please say!
    Thank you
I would say stick to the bigger areas such as Exeter or Plymouth for a bigger range of nightlife options, you are much more likely to find what you want there. Devon has some amazing country cottages available for large groups and can often work out very reasonably priced when split between a large group. Have a look here for a range of options http://www.devonshirecottageholidays.co.uk/ Alternatively you could look into hostels in the area however many do not take large group bookings and they can often work out more expensive when paying for individual beds.
  • What businesses is it reasonable for the Government to spend taxpayers money on?

Government exists to provide publicly funded services which would not exist if there was no Government. The example I am thinking of (as an extreme where the Government is verging on corruption) is the Government spending taxpayers money developing holiday homes in Scotlands first National Park, in direct competition with private businesses. Is this what you pay your taxes for?
I have also come across Government funded privately run sports complexes in the same area. It beggars belief that the Government can get away with such corruption without some accountability!
A Government should only spend money, and therefore raise taxes, on activities that deliver benefits to its people.

Some Government services are essential. On the other hand both econmic theory and the appalling experience of totalitarian states like Stalin's Russia show that the state cannot run everything. The only remaining possibility is a "mixed economy", but unfortunately this always leaves grey areas in which state and private enterprise overlap.

There have been many occasions over the years when an economic activity has been split between the public and private sectors. Forestry is perhaps an example. It is not obvious to me that such arrangements are always undesirable. There may be a number of reasons for them. For instance, in the health sector the Government provides services to ensure that they are available for all whilst in addition the private sector tops-up services for specific needs, e.g. for business people who need private rooms while they recuperate and can reasonably be expected to pay. However, what is not acceptable is for the Government to subsidise services that are in competition so that private providers are driven out of business or prevented from developing business. I have a feeling this may be your complaint!

There are much bigger abuses of taxation than provision of services in competition with the private sector:-
    1. Excess profits made by contractors supplying goods or services to Government in monopoly or cartel situations
    2. Inadequate or inefficient use of competition procedures,
for instance where suppliers bill for extra costs after the contract has been agreed
    3. Use of interest on loans to transfer wealth from the less well off to the rich.
I can think of current examples of all these problems, but do not feel like going into detail.

In recent years there has been a lot of over-dogmatic theory in both politics and economics about the private and public sectors. There is a need for conceptual advances so that the two sectors can co-operate more effectively for everybody's benefit.
  • Is there any holiday parks in England that accept 17 year olds?

Me and my friends are looking to go away this year, somewhere in the country. The problem is that, after researching on some holiday websites such as haven, persons under the age of 25 will not be accepted to stay in their holiday parks.
I understand that adult age is considered to be 18, but i have a few friends who have stayed in places such as Windermere, at the ages of 16.
The problem is that at our age, we're considered to be no good so nowhere wants to accept us to stay in their holiday homes without parental supervision - which spoils things for the ones who are mature and just want some freedom with their friends.
Does anybody know of anywhere at all? Maybe you could give me some websites, references, etc?
    Thankyou.
Lots of them, see where you want to go and ask them. Failing that get someone older to book it for you or tell them you're older, once you're there if you behave what they gonna do.
  • Holiday Home Law (UK)?

I have a static holiday home just 9 months old. I bought it from new and paid the site owner where it is located, £1500 for siting and £1500 development fee which is not the issue. I am now wishing to sell it and on top of the asking price i want, the site owner states any new owner will have to pay a One-Off ' Park Fee' of £1500 plus VAT. Is this correct ? (this is not the annual rent). The holiday home development and siting fee have been paid as stated, the home is not moving nor going off the site. Any ideas as to what the so-called fee is for ? This on top of my own asking price may put buyers off. Thanks for any input
What you describe is a new one to me.

Its normal when selling for the seller of a holiday caravan or a residential caravan (park home) to pay the land owner 10% of the money received for the sale of the caravan, its been a contentious issue for many years but as yet the government is reluctant due to pressure form the land owners pressure groups to reduce this amount or outlaw it altogether.

You need to carefully read any paperwork that you have signed and or received from the land owner also you may have to seek outside advice, maybe the Citizens Advice.

Land owners are not easy people to deal with and should never be entirely trusted.
  • can you buy a caravan on a campsite and make money on it as a holiday base ?

I have a small amount of money to invest & I am thinking of buying a caravan / statick mobile home. Does anyone also do the same thing and make an income from renting it out to holidaymakers while the caravan is sited on a caravan park. Is there a website or company who deals with this kind of system of renting caravans ?
The main thing to think of when starting such a venture is the changeovers, ie preparing the caravan for the next renters, if you don`t live near the camp you will have to pay someone to do it, which will cut into your profits. Some camps may offer the service, for a fee.
Just type caravans to rent into search there is a load of info.
  • Caravan rental in and around the sierra nevada, spain?

My partner and I are going on a motorbike holiday next year and need to find a caravan park with mobile homes already there to rent for a week or two. Ive found plenty of parks where you take your own caravan but none where they have them ready to rent as it were.
Any suggestions or reccommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Caravan parks are not that popular in Spain - especially ones where you can turn up without your own caravan and rent one for a short period. You would be better off looking into a B&B as there are quite a few around that area
  • My estranged husband is living in my home, and I want him to leave, he took advantage after my first marriage?

of 20 years dissolved and I was vunerable, my relationship with this man lasted just 18 months and I can't get him out of my own home, the only claim he has is that during the purchase he duped me into him placing his signature on the purchase agreement he has not paid a penny to its up keep, he keeps saying he going to move out, in the mean time I am paying two rents every month as the home is a static mobile home on a holiday park, and the rent on where I am now, every form of dialog I try to make with him is either ignored or irrational, am at my wits end if I don't get the home back soon I am going to loose it, as this can't continue, I can't afford a solicitor so anything I do must be something I can do myself, all sensible answers will be a great help......
Your ex husband was possibly feeling the way you feel now. What goes round .........

Learn from this experience and be nice to the next one. That will be number Three. The likelihood of divorce for the third husband is 74%.

as you see them sliding down water slides..playing in a pool and drinking..what is their state of mind? This just looks like lots of young people 'trying to be cool' - how very sad! The girls and boys look pretty enough, but would you really want to be around lots of teenagers 'trying to be cool'? Probably not!
